From the desk of William Payne:
It is time to ask for help from those we serve. Please urge your program participants to call their Nevada State Senators and Representatives about Assembly Bill 407, which would split Extension into two parts managed by two universities. Nevada’s legislators need to hear opinions about this proposal from those served by Nevada Cooperative Extension. We suggest a brief, simple and clear message to our legislators by e-mail or phone, such as “I want you to know that I am very, very concerned about Assembly Bill 407, which would split Extension in Nevada. I really value the work that Extension does for me and I do not want to see it compromised by a legislative action that is vague and very poorly thought out. Please do not let this bill pass the Assembly and the Senate.”
Our program participants can use this link to find contact information for their Senators and Representatives: http://mapserve1.leg.state.nv.us/whoRU/. Our program participants should also register their opinions on line at https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/Opinions/79th2017/A/. As of 9:30 A, May 11, 142 people had responded to the poll, with 128 against AB407, and 14 in favor.
